The Broken Bow Spirit 18U softball team battled Dannebrog Cairo Boelus in a doubleheader Tuesday. The Spirit used a big seven run fourth inning to secure a 10-1 win in game one. Skylar Smith helped lead the offense going 1 for 2 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI. Ida Bumgarner was 1 for 3 with 2 RBI, Lily Thornton as 1 for 2 with 2 runs scored, and Lila Griffiths finished 1 for 2 with a run scored and 1 RBI. Thornton picked up the win in the circle going the distance giving up just one run and striking out three.
In game two, DCB scored four runs in their first at bat and hung on for a 5-2 win. Anslee Campbell, Laney Holcomb, Alexis Pflaster, and Avery Svoboda all collected a hit for the Spirit. Svoboda had the lone RBI in game two as the Spirit are now 5-8-1 on the season.
