BROKEN BOW- A few dozen people gathered inside the Adams Land & Cattle meeting room on Wednesday at Noon to hear from republican District 43 Legislature candidate Tanya Storer.
District 43 includes Blaine, Boyd, Brown, Cherry, Custer, Dawes, Garfield, Keya Paha, Loup, Rock, and Sheridan counties. With 97 days until the primary and 272 days until the general election, she and Tony Tangwall are the lone candidates filed to run for the position currently held by Tom Brewer.
Storer opened by giving those in attendance a rundown of her life and experience, which includes running a cattle operation with her husband in Cherry County. During her statements, Storer cited that her experience includes time on boards and committees ranging from school board, Cherry County Commissioner, the Nebraska Brand Committee, and more over the last 30 years.
During a question and answer session, Storer asked those in the room to voice what they see as their main concern for the state going forward. Answers included workforce numbers, housing, childcare, immigration, population retention, internet access, diminishing facilities for elderly care, and the ability for local hospitals to compete with the cost of traveling nurses.
In closing, Storer referred to what she called the main three pillars of her campaign: Family, freedom, and future.
Regarding freedom, Storer stated, “I say it everywhere I go. Remember government doesn’t give you your rights. Government is intended.. the role of government is to protect your rights. It’s those individual rights that matter.”
Storer indicated to those in the room her desire to remain active on the campaign trail throughout the district going forward and welcomed citizens to events in the future.
