SARGENT – Four of the six Sargent School Board Members faced a recall with a mail-in election that ended on December 11. The final numbers concluded that Laura Kipp, Tammera Moody, Loyd Pointer, and Martin Riddle were recalled. Due to two of the six seats being on the School Board being filled, a special election will be held on February 13, 2024, which is a mail-in election.

Seven people, including Martin Riddle, who was recalled, have filed for the four remaining seats on the school board.
According to Custer County Clerk Connie Gracey, Martin Riddle can file to be re-elected, but he can not be appointed to fill a vacancy. To view the recall voting numbers, click here.
Cory Grint, Matthew Smith, Anthony Wager, and Cory Beran filed for the one-year term which has two vacant seats.
Madeline Clayton, Larry Gibbens, and Martin Riddle all filed for the three-year term, which has two vacant seats.
