Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over

BROKEN BOW – In a press release form the Broken Bow Police Department:

The Broken Bow Police Department will be participating in the High Visibility Enforcement Mobilization taking place across Nebraska and the Nation to share the message about the dangers of drunk driving.

From December 15, 2023, through January 1, 2024, law enforcement will participate in the high-visibility enforcement campaign, also known as “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over”.

During this period, local law enforcement will show zero tolerance for drunk driving. Increased state and national messages about the danger of driving impaired, coupled with enforcement and increased officers on the road, aim to drastically reduce drunk driving on the nation’s roadways.

Statewide in Nebraska, there were 5,425 arrests for drunk driving in 2020. Of those arrests, there were 5,314 convictions. Also in 2020, there were 72 alcohol-related accidents which included 76 fatalities.

Chief Steve Scott asks that the public plan ahead and get a designated driver or call someone for a ride and make the choice to not drive impaired.
