BBPS bond ballots being sent out the week of Oct. 23

Broken Bow Public Schools is hosting three more community meetings/tours this week to inform the public about the $26.5m bond and what the future of BBPS can look like if the bond were to pass.

This $26.5m bond is a revamp to the original $29.9m bond that failed in 2021 with a 38.8% voter turnout where 503 voted “for” the bond and 848 voted “against”.

Ballots are being sent out by mail this week, and voters need to be registered in order to submit their ballots. The last day to register online is this Friday; October 27. You can register online at www.ne.gov/go/NEreg2vote. In-person registration must be completed by Friday, November 3.

You do not need to request a ballot; all registered voters will receive one in the mail.

Ballots need to include postage and be in the mail at least two weeks before November 14. You can also hand deliver your ballots to the Custer County Election Commissioner or you can drop the ballot off in the Custer County Election Commissioner’s drop box.

On Wednesday, October 25 a community meeting/tour will be at 6:30 pm during parent/teacher conferences at the Middle/High School building. Thursday, October 26, from 9-11 a.m., and Sunday, October 29 at 6:30 p.m. will be the final two tours of October.

For more information on the school bond, you are invited to check out the Build Bow Together website and attend community meetings/tours. Build Bow Together also has a Facebook page you can visit.  The school board also welcomes and encourages anyone to ask any further questions that they may have about the bond.
