Two seniors from Callaway are putting on a 5K run this Saturday

This Saturday at the Callaway Community Center starting at 8:30 am, there will be a 5K for Breast Cancer Awareness put on by two FCCLA seniors.

Jazlynn Bechtold and Maggie Birkel, both seniors from Callaway are passionate about helping people, especially in their community so they decided to host this 5K for Breast Cancer Awareness.  All proceeds that are raised at this event will go to Keri Patterson for medical expenses.

Not only will this help out a member of the Callaway community, but it will allow Jazzlyn and Maggie to use this event for FCCLA and hopefully make it to nationals.

Jazzlyn Bechtold, President of FCCLA told KCNI/KBBN just how good of a community Callaway is.

“Our community is so great with helping with donations. We did reach out to Henrys Bar and Grill to provide granola bars so we had snacks. Maggie reached out to Nebraska State Bank (NSB) and they donated three cases of water for the run.”

FCCLA stands for Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America. FCCLA members participate in volunteer work and community service, focus on leadership, and do fundraiser events.
