The opening round of the class D2 football playoffs takes place today around the state. The first round of the playoffs consists of 32 qualifying teams that are placed on two 16 team brackets (west and east).
South Loup completed an undefeated regular season and is the #2 seed behind Dundy County Stratton in the west bracket. The Bobcats will host Ansley/Litchfield in Arnold today in the opening round. The Spartans completed the regular season at 3-5 to qualify for the playoffs. Today’s game is scheduled to kickoff at 5 p.m. and will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM and on the web at kbbn.com.
Anselmo-Merna finished the regular season at 4-4 to qualify for the playoffs. The Coyotes will be on the road today as they travel to Spencer, NE to face 5-3 Boyd County. The game will be broadcast on KCNI 1280 AM / 96.3 FM and on the web at kcni1280.com. Today’s game is scheduled to kick off at 5 p.m.
Sandhills/Thedford finished the regular season at 7-1. The Knights begin their run through the playoffs as the #4 seed in the west bracket and will host 4-4 Overton today in Dunning with kickoff scheduled at 4:30.
Twin Loup is the #6 seed in the west bracket. The Wolves completed the regular season at 5-3 and will host 4-4 Hitchcock County today in Sargent. The game is scheduled to kickoff at 7 p.m.
Mullen is the #6 seed in the west bracket. The Broncos finished the regular season at 5-3. They will host 4-4 Hyannis today. The two teams met in the regular season with Mullen winning. The game is scheduled to kickoff at 6 p.m. (MT).
