Missoula Children’s Theatre time change for performances this Saturday

This Saturday, the Broken Bow Middle School auditorium will transform into an enchanting garden.

The Missoula Children’s Theatre, along with over 20 local students, will present an original musical adaptation of “The Secret Garden”.

Cindy Ogle, CCCTA President, told KCNI/KBBN how hard the kids have been working to prepare for this event.

“The kids practice every day, following the audition on Monday. The first practice was held during the second session from 6:30-8:30. The older kids are usually the ones that do that, the ones with more lines. Then they practiced on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday with then the performances on Saturday at 1:00 and 3:30. During the practices, the directors work with the group. When the director is not working directly with them, the groups are off to the side practicing. They spend a lot of time learning their lines also at home.”

Ogle also talked about how the director of the play adds a fun incentive for a Friday rehearsal.

“The directors make it a lot of fun. When we have a Saturday performance, if the kids do really well, then on the second rehearsal on Friday night they get to do what is called a “fun-through”. So I know the older kids are really looking forward to that possibility. A “fun-through” is when they get to do the play in a different style, like pirates, cowboy, valley girl, or cheerleader or something. So it shows how well they have learned their lines that they can say in then in a different genre”.

The performance times have changed and are at 1 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the door, priced at $10 for adults, $7 for seniors, $5 for students and preschoolers are free.
