Three businesses cut ribbon with Broken Bow Chamber on Friday

Three red ribbons met scissors on Friday afternoon in and around Broken Bow as the Broken Bow Chamber of Commerce recognized Straight Arrow Bison Ranch, Rising Tide Leadership Development, and Axe Kickers +, LLC.

The two yurts at Straight Arrow Bison Ranch sit complete with tornado shelter and carport parking.

A crowd first gathered just south of Broken Bow on Sumner Road at Straight Arrow Bison Ranch, where Marty and Karen Bredthauer had constructed two yurts. The two structures, named “The Beehive” and “Nature Center”, add a unique lodging option to the area. Karen said that that the yurts are on AirBnB and feature everything you should need for any length of stay.

“We put these up to accommodate anybody that’s traveling through, but particularly with the idea of people who wanted to stay more than just a few nights. We have kitchen facilities as well as sleeping, dining, and then there’s the view of the pasture out in back.”

Each yurt features a kitchen/living area, a bedroom, and full bathroom.

The view she mentioned includes the herd of bison that roam the ranch. When asked why they decided to go with yurts, Karen said, “I just like to look for something different and something fun and this is what we found!”

With the addition of the two  yurts to their loft AirBnB option called “The Nest”, the Bredthauers are excited for visitors to come and visit.

Elijah Landell cut the ribbon with the chamber on Friday afternoon for Rising Tide Leadership Development

Rising Tide Leadership Development coach Elijah Landell, with 9 day old daughter in hand, was excited to get scissors in hand for a ribbon cutting at the Broken Bow Chamber offices next. Landell drew comparison between his previous career as a personal trainer in fitness to what he does now.

“We focus on organizational health and really I compare it to being a personal trainer. I was a personal trainer for 16 years almost and I just transitioned from working one-on-one in a health/fitness industry to working on health within businesses and teams and organizations. We focus on communication, team building, things like that. Implementing principles to help grow our people and grow leaders within the organization.”

Landell is hosting a lunch and learn with the chamber this Wednesday, titled Discover Your Values. Entry is $15 and those who are interested should contact the chamber to attend. Those interested in what Rising Tide Leadership offers can email Elijah at [email protected], visiting risingtideld.com, or going to Rising Tide Leadership Development on Facebook.

The final ribbon cutting of the day involved axes, although not to cut the ribbon. Kendall Teichmeier and Noah Grubtill own Axe Kickers +, LLC located on South C Street in Broken Bow.

The two said that the ribbon cutting comes almost exactly a year after they decided to start their axe throwing journey. The inside of their location has come together along the way, with the most recent addition being electronic targets that allow guests to play games like tic-tac-toe, zombie hunting, and more.

Throwing lanes at Axe Kickers now feature digital target systems

“That was always our end goal, was to get these electronic targets but we had to make it financially feasible to do. We got that changed, so we modified everything around that. We built our targets, we’re sourcing our wood from a local supplier here,” said Teichmeier.

When asked about what the future might hold, the two told KCNI/KBBN that they hope with the addition of electronic targets to ramp up the frequency of leagues. With the recent addition of a pool table as well, they hope to bring a team in for the APA leagues.

The front room of the building now holds a pool table with plenty of space

Teichmeier and Grubtill said they have their sights aimed at being open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday but haven’t nailed down set times yet. Axe Kickers is open by appointment by calling either Kendall at 308-643-7056 or Noah at 308-870-2455. You can also find them on Facebook by searching Axe Kickers.
