Broken Bow BD Employees Join Women’s Initiative Network

The Broken Bow BD Plant recently initiated the Women’s Initiative Network and the Broken Bow facility is the first to kick off the (WIN) Network in Nebraska. In the last two years, WIN has partnered with BD’s Research & Development and Integrated Supply Chain functions to conduct peer-to-peer round table discussions with female associates in manufacturing and product development facilities around the globe to understand perceived barriers to advancement and solicit thoughts on how the organization can best drive inclusion, diversity and equity. As a result of these discussions, deliberate action is underway to strengthen investments in, and development of, female talent.

BD’s Sam Jensen and Jodi Johnson were guests on the “Get Up & Go Breakfast Show” on KCNI/KBBN radio recently to talk about how WIN will help attract, develop, and advance women to create a competitive advantage for BD. They also stressed the importance of male employees who are also participating in the program here in Broken Bow.

To kick things off, WIN members are holding a raffle for 2 different quilts with proceeds to be used for 2 scholarships.  One will be for a relative of a BD associate who is currently pursuing a technical field and the second will be awarded to a female, either from the community or BD, who is entering or continuing a technical field.

A beautiful 60″x60″ quilt made by Cindel Hamilton titled “Kaleidoscope” will be available to BD associates and the public. Sam Jensen’s quilt titled “Huskers” will be raffled to BD associates only. Ticket sales information is available on the posters placed around the area and online. Ticket sales end on October 23rd and a live raffle drawing will be held on Facebook at 1:00 p.m. on October 25th.
