The Custer County Board of Supervisors held an afternoon session on Tuesday, September 12th to address agenda items dealing with the 2023-24 fiscal year budget.
A public hearing on the proposed budget was opened at 1 p.m. with Susan Moline, CPA from McChessey, Martin, Sagehorn, PC of North Platte, reviewing budget figures with the board. Following the hearing, unanimous approval was given to the 2023-24 budget with a property tax request of $7,527,975.69. That figure represents a 2% increase in property taxes for the fiscal year, and a slight increase in the tax levy from 0.2117 in 2022 to 0.2123 for 2023. Resolutions 24-2023 and 25-2023, dealing respectively with setting the final tax request and authorization of the petty cash funds for various departments were also approved unanimously.
The Board of Supervisor’s next meeting is scheduled for September 26 at 9 a.m. is open to the public.
