In a press release, the Broken Bow Police Department indicated numbers from the recent “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign which ran from August 16 to September 4. The campaign was funded by the Nebraska Department of Highway Safety.
Officers were able to work overtime hours in an effort to decrease the number of drunk and impaired drivers on the streets of Broken Bow.
During the campaign, officers responded to 140 calls for service including reports of speeding, disturbances, stop sign violations, and DUIs.
Officers made a total of 52 traffic stops leading to 16 total citations, 36 warnings, and vehicle defects. The traffic stops led to several uniform citations and arrests including four arrests for DUI and and one arrest for possession of a controlled substance.
