September scheduled packed at the Broken Bow Library

The fall season is upon us, and one indication is the “Hello September” greeting as well as orange and red leaves on the front of the latest edition of “Library’s Latest” from the Broken Bow Public Library.

The pages are packed with information regarding events and activities for everyone. From lapsit story times and author visits to crayon melting crafts and the first ever “Lawn Chair Olympics”.

Before Library Director Megan Svoboda filled KCNI/KBBN in about the upcoming month at the library, she recapped a very busy summer.

“We had a great response to our summer reading program.  We serve ages 0 to 100, but we have a lot of children that participate in that. We have over 300 kids that usually come every summer and this was the same. We had over 300 that participated so we were excited.”

For the little ones, Tots and Toys features stories, songs, activities and playtime for ages 0-PreK on Mondays at 10 am. Lapsit story times are scheduled Fridays starting at 10 am.

The Teen Advisory Board (TAB) welcomes teens to a melted art activity on September 29th at 4 pm. Art will be born with crayons, a canvas, and a blow dryer.

The library’s Cricut and Glowforge machines are available to the public, and sessions are scheduled to learn how to use them to their full capability.

“So we have the Cricut in there with a heat press so you can make t shirts and all kinds of different stickers. We also have a Glowforge laser cutter which you can engrave and make wood signs and different kinds of signs with the laser cutter which is kind of neat,” said Svoboda.

The Wayward Adventures of Wendall the Wandering Sock author Paige VanWinkle will be at the library on September 23rd for a storytime and some fun making sock puppets.

The whole family is invited to the library for the Lawn Chair Olympics event on Monday the 18th with battles in events like lawn darts and lawn chair volleyball.

“Then we do have our friends of the library book sale coming up on Friday September 22nd and then Saturday the 23rd. All of the money raised at that book sale goes to help to sponsor all of the programming at the library,” added Svoboda.

Svoboda said there are a lot of great ways to keep up with the library’s busy schedule. You are encouraged to visit their Facebook page, their website, or you can have the Library’s Latest mailed your direction each month.
