The Broken Bow American Legion seniors baseball team will play for the Class B Area 6 tournament championship tonight in McCook.
Broken Bow is the only remaining undefeated team in the double elimination tournament. The Bow seniors entered the tournament as the bottom seed but have now become the team to beat. Broken Bow defeated top seed Minden in round one 15-0 then defeated Gothenburg in round two 11-3. On Sunday, Broken Bow knocked off #2 seed Ogallala 9-4 to advance into the championship round.
Broken Bow’s opponent tonight will be Ogallala again. Ogallala advanced with a 12-4 win over Holdrege Monday night. Holdrege led 3-2 after four innings but then Ogallala erupted for 7 runs in the fifth inning and that was the difference as Ogallala stayed alive in the tournament and will get a rematch with Broken Bow in the championship final. Broken Bow needs one win tonight to claim the title while Ogallala would have to beat Broken Bow twice to win the championship.
Coverage of tonight’s championship round can be heard on KBBN 95.3 FM and on kbbn.com. The first pitch is scheduled for 5:30.
