BROKEN BOW – The 2023 Custer County 4-H Fashion Show, for an hour or two on Thursday, turned Broken Bow’s Evangelical Free Church into a bastion of fashion, the cutting edge of tailoring.

Four Corners 4-H set the stage for the event, literally. The group, having earned more purple ribbons in last year’s fashion show, was rewarded with the chance to decorate 2023’s runway.

That honor would go to the Thumbs UP 4-H Club this year; the group will get to see their stagecraft vision spring to life in 2024.

Top 4 Junior Stylists: Lucy Martin, Kennedy Eggleston (Reserve Grand Champion), Lillian Van Zandt (Champion), and Kayzie Pelster

Twenty-five stylists competed across 6 categories, with 3 of Custer County’s finest fashion eyes set to move on to the state competition: senior competitors Maysa Jones, and Emma and Katie Olson will represent the county at the upcoming Nebraska State Fair.

Emma and Katie Olson emerged as the Senior Reserve and Grand champions, respectively, with Maysa Jones taking home third.

The top 4 Junior Stylists were Lillian Van Zandt, named Grand Champion, Kennedy Eggleston, the Reserve Grand Champion, and Lucy Martin and Kayzie Pelster.

In the “Shopping in Style” category, Mandi Mattox was chosen to represent Custer County at the state fair; and in a category called “Just for Fun,” Tristan Taylor modeled matching vests: one tailored for a human, and another for a dog.

Top 5 Senior Stylists: Maysa Jones (third), Emma Olson (Reserve Champion), Katie Olson (Grand Champion), Faith Rehbein, Lyndsie McAuliff
