Dawson County 4-Hers showcase skill and wardrobes at county fashion show

LEXINGTON – Dawson County’s 4-H sewers displayed meticulously sewn garments at the 2023 Fashion Show. The event was held Wednesday, July 5, at 7:30 p.m. in the Lexington Middle School Auditorium. These hardworking 4-H’ers have developed a skill that will be useful to them for the rest of their lives.

The theme for the show was “Fashion Extravaganza.” The narrators for this event were Greta Rickertsen, Saidi Ringenberg, and Sydni Ringenberg, all of Lexington.

The highlight of the evening was the announcement of the Dawson County delegates to the State Fair Fashion Show. Andrea Nisley, UNL Extension Educator, announced the following trophy winners and State Fair delegates, which included Lexington’s Karla Herrarte and Sydni Ringenberg.

The participants in the Shopping in Style division where 4-H’ers showcase their consumer skills with a purchased garment were: (left to right) Joslynn Lans, Lexington; first alternate Maya Soria, Kearney; trophy winner Melissa Montano, Kearney; trophy winner Aven Zimmerman, Overton; second alternate Mollie Spradlin, Cozad; and Bristol McConville, Lexington. Alternates and medal winners were Kearney’s Maya Soria, first alternate, and Saidi Ringenberg, second alternate. Also announced were the delegates to the State Fair in the Shopping in Style Fashion Show. The trophy winners and delegates were Kearney’s Melissa Montano and Oconto’s Aven Zimmerman. The first alternate was Maya Soria and the second alternate was Mollie Spradlin of Cozad.

Judges for the Fashion Show and Clothing Construction were Marilyn Martin, Sandy Stockall, Elaine Redfern, Dianne Keller, and Jeannie Stade. Carol Keiser of Gothenburg and Sharon Pearson of Brady were the superintendent and assistant superintendent of clothing.

Helpers for the day were Cozad’s Sarah Dillon and Karon Spradlin, and  Amy Pepplitsch (L), Stephanie Ringenberg, Tina Thompson, all of Lexington. Barb Batie, also of Lexington, served as the photographer at the Clothing Contest. A full list of ribbon winners is below.
