AINSWORTH- Husker Nation was buzzing following a college football commitment in Ainsworth on Wednesday at noon. Carter Nelson sat before friends, family, and media in the Ainsworth gym and after talking about his journey, his goals, and his support system he announced his commitment to the Cornhuskers.

Considered a four-star recruit by many publications as well as the number one player in the state, Nelson committed to the Huskers over programs including Georgia, Notre Dame, and Penn State. Top247 ratings pen Nelson as the number two tight end in the nation and number 40 player overall.

The news comes on the heels of a few other in-state commitments from wide receivers Dae’vonn Hall and Isaiah McMorris, in addition to quarterback Daniel Kaelin. With Nelson’s announcement, Nebraska has a verbal commitment from the top four recruits in the state for the class. They join offensive lineman Ashton Murphy and athlete Donovan Jones as fellow in-state pledges.

Nelson’s commitment pushes Nebraska’s 2024 class to number 14 nationally according to 247Sports.
