Broken Bow faced Gothenburg for a juniors and seniors American Legion baseball doubleheader Tuesday night.
The Bow juniors fell to Gothenburg 8-0. Jackson Schwanz of Gothenburg threw a one hit shutout for the victory. The lone Broken Bow hit came off the bat of Kayden Record. Broken Bow is now 8-7 overall.
Gothenburg held on for a 6-5 win in the seniors game. It was a back and forth game as Broken Bow jumped out to a 3-0 lead going to the bottom of the third but Gothenburg would come back with a run in the third and two more in the fourth to tie the game. The sixth inning produced plenty of drama as Broken Bow scored two runs in the top of the inning to take the lead only to see Gothenburg score three in the bottom of the inning to lead 6-5 going into the 7th. Broken Bow had a chance in the 7th with the go ahead runs on base but could not get the tying run across the plate as Gothenburg was able to hold on for the victory. Eli Coble and Kaden McKean each had multi hit games for the Bow seniors. Coble was 2 for 4 with a run scored and 1 RBI while McKean finished 2 for 3 with a run scored.
Broken Bow is scheduled to host Imperial for a juniors and seniors doubleheader on Saturday at Paul Brown Field.
