The annual West Nebraska All Star Volleyball and Football games were played Saturday at Scottsbluff. The East team was victorious in both events.
The East defeated the West in the All Star volleyball game 3-2 (23-25, 25-13, 25-16, 25-27, and 15-12). Area athletes who were members of the victorious East team included Katherine Paitz of Ansley/Litchfield, Taylor Ross and Abby Stallbaumer of South Loup, Shaylyn Safranek of Anselmo-Merna, Ashtyn Snider of Cozad, and Kara Waskowiak and Emily Cornwell of Gothenburg. Cornwell was the East team MVP and Tamika Eastman of Sioux County was the West MVP.
The East team ran away from the West in the annual all star football game posting a 35-7 win. Area athletes representing the victorious East team included Connor Wells, Zack Gaffney, Nathan Reynolds, Garrett Piper, and Tyson Neely of Broken Bow. Deacon DeNaeyer of Mullen, Lance Jones of South Loup, Jayson Guthard of SEM, Kai Jorgensen, Bennett Geiken, Wes Geiken of Gothenburg, Eli Boryca, Cash and Cord Chytka of Cozad. Broken Bow’s Connor Wells was voted as the game’s defensive MVP and Adam Dugger of McCook was voted the game’s offensive MVP.
