Broken Bow Girls 2nd and Boys 3rd at Cozad Invitational

Broken Bow competed at the Cozad track and field invitational on Thursday.  Broken Bow finished as the team runner up in the girls division behind Kearney Catholic.  The Lady Stars won the girls team title with 99 points and Broken Bow was 2nd with 88.5.  Cozad won the boys team title with 96 points followed by Gothenburg in 2nd with 88 points then Broken Bow in third with 84.

Among the Broken Bow highlights, Halle Quinn was the champion in the girls 800 meter run with a winning time of 2:31.53.  MaKinley Tobey won the girls 3200 in a time of 13.14.87 followed by Broken Bow’s Jaycee Staples in 2nd.  Janae Marten won the girls shot put with a winning effort of 38′ 5″ and Taylor Schaaf was runner up in the girls discus.

On the boys side, Tyson Neely won the 400 in a winning time of 52.78.  Zane Eggleston won the boys 300 meter hurdles in a time of 41.57 and finished 2nd in the 110 meter high hurdles.  Coy Wardyn won the boys pole vault clearing 13′ 3″.  Cruz Safranek was runner up in the boys 100 meter dash and Jackson Hansen was runner up in the boys 3200 meters.

Broken Bow will next compete at the B5 district track and field championships on Tuesday (5/9) at Holdrege.  Central Nebraska’s Sports Source will provide live hourly updates from the meet on KBBN 95.3 FM and kbbn.com
