Broken Bow and Gothenburg compete, take medals at State Speech 2023

The 2023 state speech competition for classes A and B took place on Wednesday. Broken Bow and Gothenburg students competed throughout the day at Kearney High School.

Broken Bow had seven students compete throughout the day. Brynn Custer, Rylan Miller, AnnaBeth Fama, Rachel Simmons, Ali Morris, Addisen Loughran, and Maggie Smith.

For Gothenburg, Jack Aden made the finals in Entertainment Speaking, eventually coming out on top winning 1st place. Joining him at the top of another competition was Parker Graves of Gothenburg, seizing top spot in Oral Interpretation of Humorous Prose. Kara Waskowiak took top spot for the Swedes in another category, Oral Interpretation of Poetry. She also finished sixth in Program Oral Interpretation.

In total team competition, Lincoln East High School took the team title in class A and Gering took the top spot in Class B competition.
