BROKEN BOW – According to a release from the Custer County Sheriff’s Office, Christopher J. Ogle, 52 of Broken Bow, was killed in a grain bin accident a half mile north and a half mile west of Merna on Tuesday, March 14.
At approximately 4 p.m., Ogle and other individuals were removing corn from a grain bin when the incident occurred. Ogle became trapped inside the bin in the corn.
911 was called and efforts to free Ogle were unsuccessful until additional help arrived. Ogle was transported to the Jennie Melham Hospital by Merna Rescue, where he was pronounced dead.
Personnel from the Custer County Sheriff’s Office, Merna Fire and Rescue, Broken Bow Fire and Rescue, and multiple private citizens responded to the scene.
