Broken Bow advanced to the finals of the C1-11 sub district tournament Tuesday night with a 46-44 win over Kearney Catholic. The Lady Indians fought back from an early 12 point deficit to trail by just one at the half. The second half was tight and back and forth. Kearney Catholic led late 41-38 but Broken Bow went on a 7-0 run to take the lead and held on for the two point victory. Bow made just one field goal in the final quarter but was 9 of 14 from the free throw line in the 4th quarter. The Lady Indians had three players score in double figures led by Janae Marten who finished with 12 points. MaKinley Tobey and Halle McCaslin each had 11. Broken Bow is now 17-5 on the season and will face the top seed Gothenburg Thursday night for the sub district title. Gothenburg defeated Holdrege Tuesday night 59-37. Thursday night’s final will be broadcast on KCNI 1280 AM / 96.3 FM and kcni1280.com. Tip off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
Sandhills/Thedford and Pleasanton advanced to the final of the D2-7 sub district tournament at Sandhills High School. Pleasanton edged Anselmo-Merna 63-56. The Lady Coyotes were led by Makenna Miller who finished with 22 points. Shaylyn Safranek also finished in double figures for AM with 13 points. Anselmo-Merna concludes the season at 9-11. Pleasanton advances to the sub district final where they will face the top seed Sandhills/Thedford who defeated Ansley/Litchfield 37-28. The Lady Knights were led by Dayle Haake who had a game high 13 points. Ansley/Litchfield was led by Kerry Ryan who finished with a team high 7 points. Sandhills/Thedford improves to 16-5 on the season while Ansley/Litchfield concludes the season with a record of 9-13. Sandhills/Thedford will host Pleasanton for the D2-7 sub district championship on Thursday. Ravenna and Centura advanced to the finals of the D1-9 sub district tournament as Ravenna defeated Twin Loup 47-32 and Centura got past SEM 53-43. It will be the third meeting of the season between the two team who are ranked #1 and #2 in Class D1 by the OWH. Ravenna, ranked #1, has won the previous two meetings.
Arcadia/Loup City fell to top seed Amherst at the C2-9 sub district tournament 61-37. Amherst will face Wood River in the sub final as Wood River knocked off Doniphan Trumbull 46-33.
Mullen advanced to the finals of the D2-12 sub district tournament with a 42-26 win over Hyannis. The Lady Broncos will face top seed Hay Springs Thursday as Hay Springs defeated Cody Kilgore 57-28.
Sandhills Valley fell to Cambridge 73-34 at the D1-11 sub district tournament. Cambridge will face top seed Maywood Hayes Center for the sub district championship on Thursday.
South Loup fell to top seed Southern Valley at the C2-11 sub district tournament Tuesday night. Final score – Southern Valley 54, South Loup 30
