Dawson County Archers Hit Mark in Columbus

COLUMBUS – Twelve Dawson County youth participated in the Nebraska 4-H State Indoor Archery Tournament in Columbus on Saturday, January 28.

The youth demonstrated their ability in 3 disciplines and 3 age brackets. In the Basic Bow cub division, Mollie Spradlin of Cozad received 6th place, and Lexington’s Maggie and Lysa Duryea received 11th and 26th place, respectively.

Basic Bow youth division saw Cozad’s Charlie Baker land 9th, Jaden Hunke of Lexington in 13th, and Rieker Spradlin of Cozad in 15th Place.

The Bow Hunter Freestyle cub division featured Johnson Lake’s Bristol Kubert in 9th place, while Kylee Kubert of Johnson Lake would finish 9th in the Bow Hunter Freestyle youth division, followed by Beckett Anderson of Gothenburg in 33rd and Cozad’s EveLynn Schroeder in 34th. Lexington’s Wesley Thompson placed 3rd in the Freestyle Limited discipline, receiving a bronze medal. Parker Walahoski of Overton took 18th place in the young adult division of the Bow Hunter Freestyle group.

The event was sponsored by the Nebraska 4-H Shooting Sports Archery Committee. There were nearly 250 competitors from all around the state in the 9-hour event. Shooting Sports is one of the fastest-growing project areas within the Dawson County 4-H program.
