The brackets have been released for the Southwest Conference basketball tournament which takes place next week. The Broken Bow girls are the #3 seed in the girls tournament and will host Ainsworth in the quarterfinals on Tuesday (1/24) at the Indian gym with tip off scheduled for 6 p.m. Broken Bow will be seeking its sixth consecutive SWC girls tournament championship. The top seed in the girls tournament is Gothenburg. The Swedes will open the tournament next Tuesday in the quarterfinals against the winner of the Cozad/Holdrege game which will be played on Monday (1/23). Broken Bow will host Gothenburg in a regular season matchup this Thursday (1/19) at the Indian gym. The #2 seed in the girls tournament is Minden. The Lady Whippets will host McCook in the quarterfinals next Tuesday and the other girls quarterfinal matchup will feature Ogallala (4 seed) vs Valentine (5 seed).
Valentine will host Broken Bow on Monday (1/23) in the opening game of the boys tournament with the winner advancing to play top seed Ogallala in the quarterfinal round on Tuesday (1/24). Other quarterfinal matchups in the boys tournament include Holdrege (4 seed) vs Cozad (5 seed) ; McCook (2 seed) vs Ainsworth (7 seed) and Gothenburg (3 seed) vs Minden (6 seed)
First round consolation games for 5th and 7th place will take place Thursday (1/26) at Gothenburg. The tournament semifinals will be played on Friday (1/27) at Kearney High and the championship and 3rd place consolation games will be played Saturday (1/28) also at Kearney High.
