The South Loup Lady Bobcats claimed the championship at the MNAC volleyball tournament Saturday for the second year in a row. The top seed South Loup did not drop a set on their way to the title. South Loup opened championship Saturday with a straight set win over Sandhills/Thedford in the semifinals 25-18, 25-22, 25-22. South Loup would face Twin Loup in the championship match. Twin Loup survived a five set thriller against Brady in the semifinals. Twin Loup dropped the opening set 25-22 but won the next two by scores of 25-15 and 25-19. Brady tied the match winning the fourth set 25-19 but Twin Loup would prevail in fifth 15-7. That set up a rematch of last year’s championship match between South Loup and Twin Loup. The Lady Bobcats would win the title in straight sets 25-17, 25-15, 25-17.
In other action on Saturday, Sandhills/Thedford defeated Brady in the 3rd place consolation match 3-1 (25-14, 21-25, 25-18, 25-18. Anselmo-Merna defeated Hyannis in the fifth place consolation match 2-0 (25-18, 25-14) and Arthur County defeated Sandhills Valley in the 7th place consolation match 2-1 (25-15, 24-26, 25-15).
