Nebraska High School Rodeo Contestants Compete in Broken Bow

The Nebraska High School Rodeo made a stop in Broken Bow this past weekend with performances on Saturday and Sunday.  Area cowboys and cowgirls again shined during the fall rodeo season.  Cooper Bass of Brewster was the boys all around champion on Saturday.  Bass won the team roping with partner Zack Bradley of Brewster on Saturday in a time of 6.73.  Bass then finished 2nd in the boys cutting and was 6th in the tie down roping on his way to winning the all around for the day.  On Sunday, the boys all around title went to Coy Johnston of Stapleton.  Johnston won the steer wrestling Sunday in a time of 5.32.  He would team with partner Zane Kreikemeier of Callaway to take third in the team roping and was 10th in the tie down roping.  Broken Bow’s Emma Pearson claimed the girls all around title on Sunday.  Pearson won the girls cutting with a score of 72 and finished runner-up in the pole bending on Sunday.  Other area highlights included Sydney Fletcher of Arnold winning the breakaway roping in a time of 2.66 seconds.  Dalton Garey of Broken Bow won the bull riding Saturday with a score of 61.  Madison Mills won the pole bending Saturday in a time of 20.017.
