Another Busy Weekend for Bow Spirit Softball Team

The Broken Bow Spirit 18U softball team had another busy weekend competing at the Gail Wicks Tournament in North Platte. The Spirit started Saturday with a 7-2 win over the Flames of Nebraska. Broken Bow collected 11 hits in the game. Mattie Bumgarner, Victoria Griffith, and Emily Trotter each collected multiple hits for the Spirit. Griffith and Bumgarner all had three hits. The Spirit then ran into a powerful Nebraska SWAT team that scored 16 runs on 16 hits en route to a 16-0 win in three innings. The Spirit then bounced back with a thrilling 6-5 win over Angels Angels. Victoria Coleman got the win for the Broken Bow Spirit. She went two and two-thirds innings, allowing five runs on five hits and striking out one. Victoria Griffith threw one-third of an inning in relief out of the bullpen. Brianna Mowrey led Bow with two hits in two at bats.

On Sunday, Broken Bow fell to Gothenburg 12-4. Gothenburg scored 10 runs in the first inning to take control early and held the Spirit to 4 runs on just 2 hits.
