Weekend Crashes Injure Nine In Otoe County

NEBRASKA CITY – Nebraska City rescue crews were busy with life-threatening accidents this weekend. 33-year-old Bradford Dillon of Omaha was injured in a crash on the Omaha exit lane of the J. Sterling Morton Beltway west of Nebraska City at 5 p.m. Friday. A sheriff’s deputy says Dillon left Highway 75 and hit a road sign, causing the motorcycle to roll He was taken by medical helicopter to Omaha. About an hour later,  a five-year-old Nebraska City boy entered Central Avenue from between two parked vehicles and was struck by a pickup truck. The impact with the truck, driven by a 60-year-old Nebraska City man, threw the boy about 11 feet. The truck was traveling about 15 mph. The child was life-flighted to a trauma center in Omaha.  The boy is expected to come home Monday. Also Friday, a Toyota Camry driven by 21-year-old Skyler Proplesch of Otoe, left First Street in Syracuse and flipped on its top. The sheriff’s office reports that Proplesch had his arm pinned beneath the car. On Sunday afternoon, there was a two-vehicle, head-on collision at the south intersection of Highway 2. Moments after Nebraska City paramedics reached the scene, a medical helicopter was called for. There were three patients. At 5:11 p.m., a two-vehicle, injury accident was reported near Talmage on county roads R and 46. A Saturn appears to have struck the back of a trailer causing air-bag deployment. Talmage Rescue transported the driver, an Otoe County resident, and Nebraska City rescue transported two passengers.
