NORFOLK - The Nebraska State Patrol says a crash in northeastern Nebraska has killed two people, including a four-year old boy.
The patrol says the crash happened Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Highways 81 and 13 just north of Norfolk. It happened when a sport utility vehicle turning west onto Highway 13 was hit by a southbound semitrailer.
Investigators say the driver of the SUV - identified as 36-year old Rebecca Fischer of Plainview - was pronounced dead at the scene. Three small children were also in the SUV. Two of them - five-year old Scarlett Fischer and four-year old Lium Fischer - were taken to a Norfolk hospital. The third - two-year old Lara Fischer - was flown to an Omaha hospital.
The patrol says Lium died at the hospital. The other two children are expected to survive.
The driver of the semi - identified as 26-year old Tanner Albus of Decatur - suffered minor injuries.
