AUBURN - The Nemaha County Sheriff’s Office reports an arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence following Saturday night’s fatal accident north of Auburn.
The sheriff’ office reports a Dodge Durango driven by Monty Eaton, 51, of Brock was northbound and being followed by an uninvolved vehicle and a Mazda Tribute driven by Heather Spurlin, 25, of Pawnee City.
Investigators say Spurlin was attempting to pass Eaton when Eaton turned left, colliding with Spurlin’s vehicle.
Two passengers in Spurlin’s vehicle were ejected, one was flown to a Lincoln hospital, and the other, 26-year-old Travis Ries of Pawnee City, was pronounced dead at the Nemaha County Hospital.
Eaton was held at the Nemaha County Jail.
