Donald Lee "Don" Janecek, age 81, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2026, in Plano. He was born on June 11, 1944, in North Platte to Karl Arthur Janecek and Sadie Lucille Janecek née Bay, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Larry Gene Janecek.
Don was raised in North Platte, graduating from North Platte High School with the Class of 1962, where he played the tenor saxophone and proudly served as drum major in the marching band. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy later that same year. He served honorably as an Electrician's Mate First Class aboard the USS George C. Marshall (SSBN-654), a Benjamin Franklin-class ballistic missile submarine.
Don married the love of his life, Jean Elenor Cherry, in 1963. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, service, and enduring love. He is survived by Jean; his sons, Daran Janecek and his wife Debbie, and Charles "Charlie" Janecek and his wife Theresa; his grandchildren, Jack Janecek and his wife Hannah, Julia Taylor and her husband LaMont, Alexa Janecek, and Nolan Janecek; and his great-grandchildren, Gwendolyn McDowell, Ellis Janecek, Silas Janecek, and Scarlett Taylor.
Following his military service, Don pursued higher education with the same determination and discipline that marked every stage of his life. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Management from Kearney State College in 1974 and later completed his MBA at Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management in 1982.
Throughout his professional career, Don worked alongside many respected colleagues at GE Vernova's nuclear BWR training center, Westinghouse Electric Company, ITI-Movats, and Framatome. He was known for his intelligence, professionalism, steady leadership, and willingness to mentor others. One of the goals he valued most throughout his career was developing successors - helping prepare and encourage the next generation to grow, succeed, and lead after him. Many benefited from his patience, guidance, and belief in investing in people.
Don and Jean were devoted members of Stonebridge United Methodist Church in McKinney, where he faithfully participated in Bedstart community outreach and numerous lay ministry roles. Serving others and helping those in need brought him great purpose and fulfillment.
Outside of his work and church life, Don had a deep appreciation for classic automobiles. He took great pride in purchasing, restoring, and showing the classic cars he loved over the years. He was also a lifelong fan of John Wayne and enjoyed classic western films. Above all else, however, he treasured time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride.
Funeral services will be held at United Church of Sumner in Sumner, NE on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 1:00 PM followed by burial at Box Elder Cemetery with Military Honors. A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 20th from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the United Church of Sumner. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Wounded Warrior Project or to Stonebridge United Methodist Church.
Don will be remembered for his devotion to family, his service to his country, his faith, his generosity towards others, and the quiet strength and integrity with which he lived his life.

Born on January 29, 1957, in Merna, Nebraska, Deanna's life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and artistic expression.
Born on January 27, 1957, in Merna, NE, Deanna was the cherished daughter of Eugene (Gene) and Margaret (Markie) Seevers. She moved to Sargent in 1970, where she met and later married her high school sweetheart, William Vernon Goble, on August 9, 1975. Deanna raised two sons, William (Bill) Eugene Goble and Brandon James Goble, and instilled in them a deep appreciation for family and the simple joys in life, as her parents had done for her.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Vernon Goble, with whom she shared a beautiful marriage, celebrating their 50th Anniversary last August. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Margaret (Johnson) Seevers, and grandparents, Xa and Ruth (Farnham) Seevers and R. Claire and Erma (Huffaker) Johnson.
A proud graduate of Sargent High School's class of 1975, Deanna was known for her quick wit and infectious laughter. Her ability to find humor in any situation brought levity and joy to all who knew her. She had an incredible gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued, a testament to her kind and generous spirit that touched countless lives.
Deanna found herself working several fun and interesting jobs over the years, including a flower shop, hardware store, pharmacy, and funeral home. Beyond her working career, Deanna's heart was devoted to her family. She is survived by her two sons, Bill and Brandon, Bill's wife Jonna, daughters Lauren and Brynn, and Brandon's son Gavin. Her sisters, Margene Smith, Arlene Seevers, and Beverly Huhman, remain to honor her memory and continue her legacy of love and kindness.
Deanna's hobbies were as vibrant and varied as her personality. She had a deep love for Boston Terrier Bulldogs, especially Brindy and Roxie, the "daughters she never had”, and Northern Cardinals, the beautiful red birds that brought her immense joy. An avid cross-stitcher and colored pencil artist, Deanna found peace and expression in her artwork, creating the most beautiful pieces and making it look effortless.
Her personal qualities were as colorful as her art. Deanna's ability to handle any situation with grace, poise, and laughter was especially evident in the way she raised her two boys, Bill and Brandon, their many cousins, and the numerous childhood friends that were always welcome in her house. All are a testament to her strength and love.
As we remember Deanna, let us carry forward her legacy of laughter, kindness, and artistic spirit. Her memory will forever be a guiding light to those who were fortunate enough to know her.
A service to celebrate Deanna's life will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church, located at 208 N 2nd Street in Sargent, Nebraska. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor the remarkable woman who touched their lives so profoundly. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Ann Bell lived an extraordinary life.
Born Elizabeth Ann on January 2, 1944, in Wichita, Kansas (though, as her family would say, never call her Elizabeth), she could not have imagined the many places life would take her.
Her remarkable journey truly began when she married the love of her life, John Bell, on June 19, 1965. Their love story became their guiding light and remained a constant through nearly 60 years of marriage. Together, they built a family and welcomed their two daughters, Cheryl and Linda, into their home in California.
From there, Ann, John, and their daughters, embarked on many adventures, living in seven cities across four states and three countries. They made homes in ten different houses, each one enriched by the traditions, experiences, and memories they gathered along the way.
While living in England, Ann attended cooking school, deepening her passion for cooking and baking. The kitchen became the heart of her home, where she created countless cherished meals and memories. Her daughters fondly relied on the "1-800-ASK-ANN" hotline for cooking advice throughout their own lives and deeply miss her wisdom.
Ann's extraordinary life extended beyond her home. At a time when few women worked in technology, she built a career as an education IT professional. She was also deeply involved in women's service organizations, most notably the Vancouver, Washington Newcomers Group. Her passion for teaching and helping others serving as a defining thread throughout her life.
In retirement, Ann and John settled in Brush Prairie, Washington, where they created a beautiful home filled with love and celebration. There, Ann hosted meaningful gatherings, including their 50th wedding anniversary and their daughter Linda's wedding. She also cherished life's quieter moments-baking with her granddaughters and preparing family holiday meals, always centered around her beloved kitchen. It was in her home that she passed away peacefully on February 26th, 2025, surrounded by her loving family-John, Cheryl, and Linda.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, John; her daughter Cheryl Bell and her husband, Alan Papesh; her daughter Linda Bell Russo and her wife, Marianne Russo; and her granddaughters, Kayla Schmidt and Gioia Russo.
Ann lived an extraordinary life as an extraordinary woman. In her honor, and in lieu of flowers, her family invites you to share a meal with your loved ones and, if you feel called, make a donation to your local food bank.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the Victoria Creek Cemetery near Anselmo, NE.
