Nebraska women’s soccer team finds net three times to defeat Missouri

LINCOLN — Nebraska’s effective offense keeps finding the back of the net as the Huskers remain unbeaten on the season.

Senior Haley Hanson scored in each half to lead No. 14 Nebraska to a 3-0 victory over Missouri on Sunday night at Hibner Stadium.

After scoring 25 goals in 22 games last season, Nebraska has 12 during its 4-0 start. The Huskers have scored three times in each game.

And NU wasted little time in putting itself in front Sunday. Hanson put away Elyse Huber’s crossing pass 64 seconds into the game.

Nebraska would control the opening half. It had a 10-2 shot advantage and 1-0 lead at halftime.

Missouri (2-1-1), which had allowed one goal in its first three games, kept it a one-goal margin until the Huskers put the game away midway through the second half.

Nineteen minutes into the half, junior Caroline Buelt dribbled to the center of the field and drilled a left-footed shot from 25 yards out that was just under the crossbar.

Three minutes later, Hanson scored her second goal of the night when she converted a header off a corner kick from Brenna Ochoa.

Nebraska finished the night with a 15-8 shot advantage.

Keeper Aubrei Corder made two saves to earn her third shutout of the season. The sophomore has 14 career shutouts in 26 appearances for the Huskers, who return to action Friday at Washington State.
