Woman dies after two-vehicle crash in Seward County

A 56-year-old Seward woman died Sunday in a two-vehicle crash that officials said occurred after a driver ran a stop sign northeast of Seward.

Lily Gonzalez was pronounced dead at Bryan Medical Center’s west campus in Lincoln, the Seward County Sheriff’s Office said. Investigators said she was riding in a 2008 Buick Enclave SUV driven by Edward Gonzalez, 53, also of Seward. The Buick was traveling on Waverly Road about 3:50 p.m. when it was struck by a 2007 Subaru Tribeca SUV driven by Paxton R. Minnig, 20, of Lincoln, officials said. The Subaru was on 196th Road when the driver ran a stop sign, officials said.

All three people were taken to Seward County Memorial Hospital. Edward Gonzalez was treated there and released. Lily Gonzalez and Minnig were flown to Bryan.

Minnig was listed in fair condition Monday, a hospital spokeswoman said.
