CAMBRIDGE – Four teenage boys are facing prison time if convicted on felony charges after investigators uncovered a plan to attack the Cambridge High School.
The Furnas County Attorney filed charges of felony terroristic threats against 18-year-old Joseph Williams of Oxford; 17-year-old Cameron Hagedorn of Cambridge and 17-year-old Nicholas Sheaffer of McCook. A former student, 18-year-old Aron McMains, is also charged with terroristic threats.
Court records show that Furnas County officials received a report on November 30th about a possible threat at the school.
With assistance from the Nebraska State Patrol, they determined the suspects had a number of conversations in the months leading up to that date about “shooting up” the school.
One conversation involved another student who was asked to act as a human shield in the event that police were called to the school.
Court records also show that there had been a web search for automatic weapons on the computer of one of the suspects.
Felony terroristic threats is a Class 3-A felony, punishable by up the three years in prison.
