Severe Storms, High Heat, And Fire Danger Wednesday

The National Weather Service in North Platte is urging everyone to watch the weather closely on Wednesday as there will be chances for severe storms along with hot weather and near-critical fire danger.

Severe storms are possible late Wednesday afternoon and evening along with heat index values 100°-105°. Due to low relative humidity, this will create a near-critical fire danger especially in the southwest portion of Nebraska.

KEY POINTS:

Hazards: Large hail, damaging wind with any severe thunderstorms, heat index
values 100F-105F, and minimum relative humidity values 15% to 20%.

Areas Impacted: For severe storms, all of western and north-central Nebraska.
For heat, locations east of a line from Ogallala to Valentine. For fire concerns,
mainly west of a line from Valentine to Ogallala to Imperial.
Timing & Duration: Mainly late Wednesday afternoon and evening

Impacts: Large hail, damaging wind, heat-related illness, and elevated fire
weather concerns.
