BROKEN BOW—Local students versed in everything from agriculture to automotive are anxious to show off their talents at state competitions. Community members are invited to help send them to state by attending the annual Labor Auction and Spaghetti Feed hosted by the Broken Bow chapters of Future Farmers of America (FFA) and Skills USA.

The auction and supper are scheduled for Tuesday, February 5 at 6:30 p.m., at the Broken Bow High School (323 N 7th Ave, Broken Bow, NE 68822). Around 40 FFA and Skills USA members will be “sold” for eight hours of labor. Broken Bow Industrial Tech teacher and Skills USA advisor Mike Schweitzer said students have been sold in the past for anywhere between $80 to $300 to help with projects such as branding cattle or fixing fences.

Rescheduled date February 5 at 6:30 p.m.

“FFA has always done a labor auction and last year we combined Skills USA and FFA and did this labor auction together. It’s been a huge money maker for us. So, we have a spaghetti feed that starts at 6:30 on the 22nd of this month. And then after that we will do the labor auction so we will auction off the FFA members and the Skills USA members. The proceeds go to helping the kids go to their state contests,” Schweitzer said.

FFA and Skills USA members will be making and serving hot spaghetti, fresh veggies, and desserts for a fee. All proceeds from this coming Tuesday’s Labor Auction and Spaghetti Feed will go toward sending FFA and Skills USA members to competitions such as state and nationals.
