NSAA Extends Suspension of All Spring Sports and Practices to May 1st

The Nebraska School Activities Association announced today (3/25) that all NSAA activity practices and competitions will now be suspended through May 1st.  The NSAA added that the suspension could again be extended if warranted.

On March 16, the NSAA announced an activities suspension through April 2 amid the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Officials re-evaluated the time table earlier this week and pushed it back another month.

The suspended sports include soccer, track and field, baseball, boys golf and girls tennis.

The most affected sports in the KCNI/KBBN coverage area will be boys golf and track.   If spring activities are allowed to resume, the return would come close to post season competition.  District track is scheduled for May 13 and 14 while districts for boys golf are currently scheduled for May 18 and 19.

Here is the official release put out by the NSAA

“All NSAA activity practices and competitions are suspended through May 1.  These suspensions may be extended should the conditions warrant.

Member schools and student-participants are expected to adhere to the NSAA Constitution & Bylaws and activity manuals during this time.

The NSAA encourages all member schools to follow CDC, local, state and federal health department recommendations.

As more information becomes available, official updates will be posted on the NSAA website and the NSAA social media platforms.”
