Hy-Vee recalls 32 varieties of cheesecake, fearing salmonella contamination

Hy-Vee is recalling cheesecake that may be contaminated with salmonella.

The Iowa-based grocery store chain announced Friday that it was recalling cheesecakes made with Diamond Crystal Brands cheesecake mix stamped with “best if used by” dates between Dec. 6, 2018, and Jan. 11, 2019.

The voluntary recall includes 32 varieties of cheesecake in 8-ounce and 32-ounce plastic containers. Varieties include cherry, Oreo, pumpkin fluff, strawberry, mint, turtle, flag, mint chip bettercreme, strawberry bettercreme, lemon bettercreme, pumpkin bettercreme, chocolate bettercreme, sea salted caramel bettercreme, golden Oreo bettercreme, Oreo bettercreme and s’mores bettercreme.

The recalled cheesecakes were shipped to 117 of Hy-Vee’s 249 grocery stores across the region. Stores have been instructed to remove the products from their shelves.
