Hazardous Weather Outlook- Winter weather advisory in effect from Monday evening through Tuesday

A winter weather advisory will be in effect from this evening through Tuesday.

Snow will begin in southwest Nebraska, expanding north through the area tonight. Travel will be hazardous due to snow covered roads and reduced visibility due to some blowing and drifting snow.

Wintry weather will continue through Tuesday. The heaviest snowfall will occur on Tuesday morning. Storm total snowfall amounts of 3 to 5 inches are expected at this time with locally higher amounts possible. There is also a potential for freezing rain, with up to a tenth of an inch of ice possible in parts of far southwest Nebraska.

No hazardous weather is expected Wednesday and beyond.
