BROKEN BOW— Broken Bow City Council held their first meeting of 2019 on Tuesday, January 8 with only a few things on the agenda with the main topic covering the electrical rate increase.
According to Donnis Hueftle-Bullock, to kick off the meeting JEO Consulting Group presented to Mayor Berghorst and the City Council on their business and why they should be selected to remain the city contractor. Following the presentation, City Attorney Jason White, gave his recommendation to the Mayor and Council to keep JEO as the city contractor.
White mentioned that their help in check audits where JEO was able to provide documents that the city was unable to locate and not charge for them, was invaluable to the city. A member of JEO Consulting Group also said that grants that the company has been able to receive for the city has been extremely helpful to the improvements done in the past few years. A decision will be made on the city contractor at a future meeting date.
The third and final reading of Ordinance 1198 Electrical Rates (click on “a” under Unfinished Business) was read to the public following the public hearing on those rates. Following the hearing and final reading, the council did vote to move forward with the increase and adopted the ordinance.
Before concluding the meeting, Mayor Berghorst praised the city on their diligent work in removing the snow during the last snow storm. The Mayor also thanked the water department for their work on fixing an issue that has taken place near the intersection of S. 6th Ave. and Highway 2.
The next Broken Bow City Council Meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 22 at 6 P.M.
