GRAND ISLAND – The Central District Health Department reported Monday that West Nile Virus has been detected in Hall County.

Viral activity has been low throughout the state this year, However, the Central District Health Department is urging everyone to take precautions.

West Nile Virus is transmitted through the bite of a mosquito that has picked up the virus by feeding on an infected bird.

Officials say the best way to avoid West Nile is to use insect repellent, using screens on doors and windows and staying indoors during dusk and dawn.
