The Grand Island Fire Department has seen pet birds in trees and cats on roofs, but a dog on a roof is a rarity.

Around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, the fire department was dispatched to 316 E. 7th St. after it was dispatched by the Central Nebraska Humane Society to assist in getting a husky off the roof of the home. Shift Commander Ed Carlin said the husky appeared to have squeezed through an open window onto the roof.

Firefighters used a ladder to get onto the roof to safely lure the husky back into the home through the open window.
