Weather holds out, as thousands attend Homestead Days Parade

BEATRICE – Thousands turned out for the annual Homestead Days Parade through downtown Beatrice, which was televised on NCN.

Some 75 to 80 entries traveled west along Court Street through the downtown area.  

This year’s Homestead Days theme is “Cultivate Your Roots….Tell Your Tale”.

 One Friday night event, a fireworks display, fell victim to late night rain, but has been rescheduled for July 9th, in Beatrice.

Saturday scheduled events included an adult and family kayak adventure along the Big Blue River along with Arts in the Park and children’s games…at Charles Park.  Main Street Beatrice was sponsoring Ribfest, in the downtown at the Stone Hollow Brewing Company.

The Homestead National Historical Park was featuring entertainment and presentations at the park’s Education Center through Saturday and Sunday.

 Sunday events focus on Chautauqua Park, where a car show, a BMX performance, swap meet and flea market were scheduled.
