Vetoes overridden by Nebraska Legislature

Governor Pete Ricketts vetoed three bills, the Nebraska Legislature has voted to override those vetoes.

The lawmakers needed 30 votes to extend SNAP benefits to more than 3,000 Nebraska households.

They will now qualify for the federal food assistance program.

The legislature has also used its power to override two other vetoes from the governor.

One will require the state to manage Omaha Public Schools’ troubled pension system and the other will expand eligibility for heating aid.
