UPS Driver receives ‘key to the city’ for 15 years of deliveries to Geneva

GENEVA, NE — Scott Coe’s Wednesday morning delivery route in Geneva started out like normal… and then he opened his door at Studio 81 Salon.

The unsuspecting UPS driver was greeted by cheers and a key to the city. Mayor Eric Kamler says Coe deserves the honor because of his years serving the city’s residents.

“Scott’s been an absolute staple in the community for almost 15 years now,” Kamler said. “It’s absolutely awesome to have him recognized here today. He’s just a friendly face, a warm personality and somebody who is appreciated by everybody when he goes to everyone’s doorstep.”

Coe says he’s just doing his job.

“This is amazing, this is awesome, this is great, I didn’t expect this,” Coe said. “It’s just been a pleasure coming for 15 years to Geneva and taking care of people.”

The appreciation goes both ways. Locals helped him out after a recent surgery.

“They were right there for me, they helped me out when I needed them,” Coe said. “I got their’s, they got my back – it’s pretty incredible.”

Locals say Coe’s deliveries have been extra important to the community during the pandemic.
