OMAHA --- The University of Nebraska Medical Center has approved four key initiatives, including the construction of a new $8 million welcome and history center. Thursday, the NU Board of Regents approved the construction and naming of a welcome and campus history center, which will be called the Wigton Heritage Center. The 10,000 square foot building will memorialize UNMC's history, while also serving as a campus welcome center. Along with the new welcome center project, three other initiatives were passed as well, including the acceptance of a $2.8 million gift to expand the entrance of UNMC's clinical simulation facility, the establishment of a clinical and research program for pancreatic cancer, and the moving of the Munroe-Meyer Institute to UNO's Scott Campus, which should be completed by July of 2020.
