BEATRICE – A truck driver from Hiawatha, Kansas was killed in an accident about a mile south of the Nebraska-Kansas state line Friday, in Brown County, Kansas.
The victim was identified as 57-year-old Jon David Bruns.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reports Bruns was driving a 2010 Kenworth semi-truck north on Dewberry Road, when the truck went off the road to the east and the driver apparently overcorrected. The truck veered back onto the road and rolled.
Bruns died at the scene of the accident. The Kansas Highway Patrol said the driver was not using a safety restraint. The accident happened just after two p.m., about four miles north of the town of Morrill, Kansas.
