Thief steals Omaha hotel’s shuttle bus and abandons it in Council Bluffs

A shuttle bus stolen from a downtown Omaha hotel early in the morning later was located abandoned in Council Bluffs.

A staff member of the Hilton Hotel Omaha at 10th and Cass Streets told police that the shuttle was unoccupied and idling in front of the building at 5:20 a.m. Sunday. A man jumped in the 15-passenger bus and sped away.

Hotel staff were able to track the bus to a residential neighborhood on the west side of Council Bluffs. Deputies from the Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office said the bus was unoccupied when they found it near 27th Street and Avenue C.

Hotel staffers told officers that a man had been hanging around outside the hotel prior to the theft.
