Sutherland unveils veterans memorial in Anchor Park

SUTHERLAND, Neb. — A western Nebraska community has unveiled a new veterans memorial.

Anchor Park in Sutherland is the new home of the Dedication Stone and has become a new hot spot for the town. The memorial serves as a special recognition for service personnel from the Lincoln County town who were killed in action.

Unveiling the stone is the end of the first of four phases for the memorial. The Sutherland growth committee hopes to have phase two, which is lighting the memorial, completed by this summer.

An additional five stones will be added during the third phase. Each stone will list the names of those who served our country. Finally, flags will be added to the memorial area upon completion of the additional stones.
